This is the only painting in my Artisan Gallery where I used a reference photo I didn't take myself. I found a lovely image of a palomino pinto in Karen Broemmelsick's art reference Facebook group that I immediately felt I wanted to work with. I love the golden, late afternoon/early evening light, and the golden palomino coat was just irresistible. This is a "rougher" painting where I did not go for photorealism but rather a feeling and an impression. I do not know the story behind this horse, and it intrigues me. Is it a mare? A stallion? A gelding? It's not in show condition... is it wild, or maybe a working horse? What do you think is this horse's story?
